We’ve all heard the aggressive vocabulary of survival: Fight the cancer. Kill the cancer. Overcome it.

But what does "fighting" actually look like when you are deep in the trenches of treatment? My sister Brenda is pulling back the curtain on a reality that rarely gets talked about in public warrior narratives.

For Brenda, the enemy isn't some abstract villain called cancer. The enemy is the exhausting, daily toll of the side effects required to treat it.

"Fighting is not strong punches," she says. "It's getting weakened and still walking and still moving forward. It's getting weaker and weaker and keeping it up."

This is the quiet, heavy bravery that is demanded of patients every single day. Not a theatrical show of strength, but a relentless commitment to keep moving forward when you feel entirely depleted.

Part 1 of Brenda's deeply honest story is streaming now.
